Job description
Overview

As a Junior Cost Engineer, you will be a key member of our Project Controls team providing cost management support to the EDF projects. You will be working alongside other Costain colleagues, our client and their suppliers. Your core Cost Engineering responsibilities will be to carry out cost management and reporting. Please note potential candidates for this role must be able to obtain and retain CTC (Counter Terrorist Check) level security clearance to be considered for this position. (Minimum 3 years residence in UK).

Responsibilities
  • Control, monitor, analyse and report cost for projects at a Nuclear Power Station
  • Performance Analysis – identify & understand variances against the baseline
  • Cost Reconciliation
  • Monthly reporting including status reports & accountability meetings with stakeholders
  • Cost Forecasting
  • Baseline Management
  • Change & Risk Management
  • Development and use of Project Control Structures (CBS, OBS, WBS etc.)
  • Close working relationship with the Planning Project team to maintain an aligned financial position with the project plan, playing a key role in an integrated Project Delivery team
Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience and understanding and knowledge of accountancy and finance processes
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • High level of numeracy and excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent MS Office skills and well versed in the preparation of reports and information using packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable

  • Relevant experience in Project Controls and/or Project Delivery, preferably in a highly regulated environment
  • HNC/HND, degree qualified or experience in a cost related discipline is desirable
