Job summary

University of Cambridge invites applications for a Junior Clinical Training Scholar in Small Animal Surgery and Anaesthesia. This 12-month scholarship, starting September 2026, supports services and undergraduate teaching within the Department of Veterinary Medicine.

Role includes surgical preparation, anaesthesia, postoperative care and on-call duties. Applicants must be an RCVS member with at least 12 months' companion animal practice.

Qualifications

• RCVS membership required
• 12+ months experience in companion animal practice preferred
• Previous small animal surgery/anaesthesia or rotating internship encouraged

Responsibilities

• Assist with assessment, treatment and management of small animal surgical patients
• Support surgical preparation, anaesthesia, post‑operative care and discharge
• Contribute to emergency/critical care cases and teaching of final-year students
• Participate in weekend/weeknight on‑call rota
