Job description

An exciting opportunity to come and work at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) joining some of the UK’s leading surgical teams delivering excellence in orthopaedics and neuro‑musculoskeletal care.

RNOH Junior Clinical Fellowship+ posts are designed to provide a rounded experience for successful applicants; each with a strong clinical focus in addition to specialist non‑clinical attachments that will be the envy of any portfolio.

JCF+ posts include but are not limited to:
Medical Management & Leadership

Supervised by the RNOH Medical Directorate and will include a special project, attendance at relevant management committee meetings, Faculty of Medical Leadership Management.

Quality Improvement

Supervised by the Director of Improvement and will provide an intro to QI; a special project with the Improvement Team, and human factors training.

Research and Innovation

Supervised by the Head of the RNOH Research & Innovation Centre and will include a special project, attendance at Research & Innovation Committee meetings, Critical Appraisal skills training, and learning to write grant proposals.

Medical Education

Supervised by the RNOH Medical Directorate and Director of Medical Education and will include attendance at the Medical Education Committee Meetings, supervision of journal club and teaching programmes, and a special project/course design/simulation training programme.

Medical Information

Supervised by the RNOH Chief Medical Information Officer and will include experience of the various Digital Committees, MedTech project, and Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration advisory/link role.

The JCF+ Doctors will be involved in the day‑to‑day care of the patients on the wards under the supervision of the Specialist Registrars and Consultants.

Key responsibilities will include the perioperative management of orthopaedic surgical patients. Successful applicants will work in one of four teams alongside Core Surgical Trainees and RNOH Foundation Equivalent Programme doctors.
