Job summary

Blenheim is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to focus on pricing, collaborating with the Pricing Actuary to develop and maintain pricing models and support underwriters with case pricing.

You will gain exposure to reserving and capital modelling through project work and data preparation for stakeholders across the business.

Responsibilities

• Support the development, testing, and maintenance of pricing models for Syndicate, MGA and delegated authority business.
• Support the Pricing Actuary and underwriters with case pricing, including preparing analyses and explaining key assumptions.
• Develop effective working relationships with underwriters by listening to their requirements and delivering reliable support.
• Assist other team members, including during reserving exercises and Internal Model Validation exercises.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders from Claims, Finance, Underwriting and Risk for data and information requests.
• Collaborate with Finance, Compliance and Underwriting teams in developing the Actuarial Function.

Job description

The Actuarial Analyst will focus primarily on pricing, working closely with the Pricing Actuary to develop and maintain pricing models, support underwriters with case pricing, analyse portfolio performance and communicate findings to stakeholders.

The role will also provide exposure to reserving and capital modelling through project-based work and preparing information/data for stakeholders across the business.

Key tasks:

• Support the development, testing, and ongoing maintenance of pricing models for Syndicate, MGA and delegated authority business.
• Support the Pricing Actuary and underwriters with case pricing, including preparing and checking analyses, explaining key assumptions and impacts.
• Develop effective working relationships with underwriters by listening to their requirements, communicating clearly and delivering reliable support.
• Assisting other members of the team as required, including support during reserving exercises and Internal Model Validation exercises.
• Liaise with and provide data and information as requested by internal stakeholders from Claims, Finance, Underwriting and Risk
• Work with Finance, Compliance and Underwriting teams in the development of the Actuarial Function.

Key personal skills required:

• Highly numerate graduate (or equivalent) with up to 2 years of experience.
• A structured and curious approach to problem-solving, with the ability to investigate issues, test assumptions and draw practical conclusions.

Key technical skills, knowledge and professional qualifications required:

• Knowledge of the actuarial techniques for London market lines of business useful but not essential.
• Confidence working with spreadsheets and an interest in developing data and coding skills. Experience with tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, R or similar is beneficial but not essential.
• A desire to study for IFoA or similar exams.
