Job summary

Axis CLC Group is seeking an experienced Joiner to deliver planned and reactive maintenance across MOD sites in the Colchester region. You will perform first and second fix joinery, install kitchens and fittings, and work within secure defence environments to maintain high standards of workmanship and safety.

The role requires NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry & Joinery or time-served experience, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to obtain MOD security clearance.

Qualifications

• Competent in both first and second fix joinery.

• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Carry out first and second fix joinery on refurbishment, maintenance and fit-out projects.
• Install kitchens, doors, door frames, skirting boards, architraves, window boards and flooring.
• Undertake partitioning, boxing-in and general carpentry repairs.
• Fit ironmongery and carry out any required adjustments.
• Ensure all works are completed to a high standard, on time and in line with health and safety requirements.
• Work independently or as part of a team while maintaining effective communication with supervisors, clients and other trades.
• Maintain tools, equipment and a clean, safe working environment.
• Deliver excellent customer service while working within occupied and secure MOD properties.

We are looking for an experienced Joiner to join our team delivering planned and reactive maintenance works across MOD sites throughout the Colchester region. Working within secure defence environments, you will carry out a range of first and second fix joinery tasks, ensuring military accommodation and operational buildings are maintained to the highest standards while meeting quality, safety and compliance requirements.

What You'll Deliver

About You

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent), or time-served experience.

• Proven experience in refurbishment, maintenance or responsive repairs (new build experience alone is not sufficient).

• Competent in both first and second fix joinery.

• Full UK driving licence.

• Able to obtain and maintain the required Ministry of Defence security clearance.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.

• Able to work independently and manage workloads effectively.

• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.

Physical Requirements

This role involves practical, hands-on work and requires a good level of mobility and manual dexterity. You may at times be required to work at height, in confined spaces or on uneven ground, and to use a range of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
