Job summary

Kier Design is seeking an Environmental Manager for the A417 Missing Link project team based in Gloucester. This site-based role offers 37.5 hours per week with some home-working opportunities.

You will lead environmental management, collaborate with designers and construction teams, and help deliver sustainable solutions on a major infrastructure project. The ideal candidate will have a degree in environmental science or sustainability, be Chartered or progressing toward Chartership with ISEP,

Qualifications

  • Degree in environmental science or sustainability (or equivalent).
  • Chartered or Practitioner member of ISEP (towards Chartership).
  • Experience leading environmental management on large construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and related issues.
  • Excellent communication; able to translate technical information clearly.
  • Experience working with stakeholders and taking initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental management and compliance, ensuring adherence to DCO and EMP commitments.
  • Collaborate with designers and construction teams to minimise environmental impacts.
  • Oversee implementation of the project's One Planet Action Plan and promote sustainable solutions.
  • Obtain necessary environmental permits, licences and consents in a timely manner.
  • Provide guidance, support and training on environmental issues to the wider project team.

Location: Gloucester - site based, with some working from home opportunities. Hours: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.   • You have excellent knowledge of UK environmental legislation and a good understanding of various environmental issues
  • You're a confident communicator who can translate technical information clearly to different audiences
  • You enjoy working collaboratively with stakeholders while being comfortable taking initiative
