Job summary

A local support organization in Longniddry is seeking a Female personal assistant to support a young person with profound learning disabilities and epilepsy. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, emotional support, and accompanying the individual to activities. The ideal candidate should have a driving license and experience in care. This part-time role offers flexible shifts and competitive pay of £12.80 per hour.

Job Overview

Female personal assistant (PA) required to support a young person with profound learning disabilities, autism, and epilepsy who uses a wheelchair full-time and lives in Longniddry. The young woman has a wicked sense of humour, is fun, bubbly and sociable and is looking for a kindred spirit to help her live life to the full.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the young person with emotional regulation and personal care, including moving and assisting with a stand aid.
  • Accompany the young person to activities such as youth club, music sessions, iPad use, swimming, and other leisure activities.
  • Provide general support throughout the scheduled shifts and additional respite hours.
Requirements
  • Full driving licence valid in the UK to drive the young person’s motability car.
  • Either a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme or willing to join.
  • Cat and dog friendly.
  • Experience of care is useful.
Working Hours

Two shifts per week: one on Wednesday for three hours between 1100 and 1700 (time flexible with employer) and one Thursday from 1830 to 2100. Additional 144 hours per year are available for respite work, including a few 24‑hour shifts and evening work. Dates and times to be negotiated.

Salary

£12.80 per hour.
