Job description

This is a 0.1 FTE position, reporting to the Senior Vice-President (Health and Life Sciences), and the Vice-President (Research and Innovation), offered to academic staff as an additional opportunity.

King's is seeking to appoint a new Academic Lead for its partnership with the Rosalind Franklin Institute (RFI), a UKRI institute located in Harwell, Oxfordshire. The institute is focused on technological innovations that can be applied in the life sciences and in improving human health. The institute's research includes work on multidimensional imaging, spatial biochemistry, AI, chemical manipulation in vivo, quantitative biology, and pathogen/cell interactions - please follow this link for further details.

The RFI opened its new building in autumn 2021, and the current director, Professor Paul Matthews, who started in spring 2024, brings a strong emphasis on collaboration. In the last few years, the number of King's collaborations and joint studentships has grown, facilitated by the current Academic Lead, Professor Mark Wallace. Looking ahead, there is scope to scale up collaboration, exploring new areas and progressing to larger collaborations and joint grants.
