Job summary

Exalto Consulting is seeking a Java Software Engineer in Liverpool for a permanent role, offering up to £70,000 base salary depending on experience. The position requires on-site presence one day per week and provides opportunities to upskill into React Native, Azure, and SharePoint.

Key responsibilities include backend development with Java and Spring, deploying to Tomcat/WebSphere, building RESTful services, and contributing to CI/CD while working within Agile teams.

Qualifications

• Strong backend development with Java and Spring in large codebases.
• Experience deploying Java applications on Tomcat and/or WebSphere servers.

• Web performance and WCAG accessibility principles.
• Extensive testing: Jest, Detox, Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, JUnit, Mockito, with TDD.

Java Software Engineer - Liverpool 1dpw - up to £70,000

Exalto consulting are currently recruiting for a permanent java software engineer, this is to work for a fantastic organisation, paying up to £70,000 basic salary depending on experience and benefits, looking for someone willing to go to site x1 day per week in Liverpool. In this role you will also gain opportunity to upskill to new technologies (react native, azure and sharepoint)

Essential skills and experience

• Strong backend development experience using Java and Spring, including working with large or mature codebases.
• Experience deploying and managing Java applications on Apache Tomcat and/or IBM WebSphere application servers.
• Demonstrable experience with RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
• Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility (WCAG), and responsive design principles.
• Solid experience across the testing landscape, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing using tools such as Jest, Detox, Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, JUnit, and Mockito — with a strong commitment to test-driven development.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git)

• Experience working within Agile or cross‑functional delivery teams.
