Job summary

Sanderson Government & Defence is seeking a Java Software Engineer to join a team delivering high-quality software on critical projects. You will work within an Agile/Scrum framework throughout the software lifecycle, including development, testing, debugging and deployment.

You should have hands-on Java experience with Spring Boot, unit testing, DevOps/CI-CD and Agile delivery. Docker experience would be beneficial.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with unit testing, test automation and TDD; proficiency in debugging and profiling.
• Familiarity with DevOps tooling and CI/CD processes; agile delivery experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver high-quality Java applications.
• Write unit, integration and feature tests.
• Collaborate with technical teams to understand requirements and resolve issues.
• Create and maintain low-level designs and documentation.
• Support CI/CD and software delivery activities.

We are looking for a Java Software Engineer to join a team delivering high-quality software on critical projects.

You will work as part of an Agile/Scrum team and be involved throughout the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, debugging and deployment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and delivering high-quality Java applications
• Writing unit, integration and feature tests
• Working with other technical teams to understand requirements and resolve issues
• Creating and maintaining low-level technical designs and documentation
• Supporting CI/CD and software delivery activities
• Debugging, performance tuning and improving application reliability
• Participating in Agile ceremonies and sprint activities
• Contributing to digital transformation and wider engineering projects

What we're looking for

You should have strong hands-on experience with:

• Java and associated technologies
• Spring Boot
• Unit testing, test automation and TDD
• DevOps tooling and CI/CD
• Debugging, profiling and performance tuning
• Agile software delivery

Experience with Docker or other container technologies would also be beneficial.

We are looking for someone with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a genuine desire to continue developing their technical knowledge.
