Job summary

Oliver Bernard is hiring a Senior Java Engineer to join their Sports engineering team in Manchester. You will develop and deliver high-quality backend software while mentoring others and owning technical delivery.

The role focuses on Java/Spring Boot with modern backend tooling and a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 3 days a week in Manchester with a competitive £78k+ bonus package.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java & Spring Boot.
• Experience with AWS, Kafka, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Solid backend/software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting less experienced developers.
• Hands-on and technically strong; not necessarily a formal lead title.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

We’re working with a leading technology business within the iGaming, sports betting and lottery space, looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join their Sports engineering team.

This is a great opportunity for a strong hands‑on Java developer who enjoys mentoring others, taking technical ownership and helping drive engineering standards, without necessarily wanting to step away from the code.

What you’ll be doing:
