Java Developer
Location: Newcastle

Key Requirements
  • Security clearance: 5+ years continuous UK residence, no gaps of 6 months or more abroad within those years.
  • Hybrid working: Newcastle office 3 days per week.
  • Java Development Kit (JDK 11+) and Spring Boot for modular, maintainable services.
  • Experience with enterprise middleware platforms such as WebLogic Server (Enterprise Edition) and CAS SDK.
  • Collaborate with cloud and infrastructure teams to deploy solutions into secure, scalable public cloud environments (e.g., AWS) using containers.
  • Advocate good development practices: consistent branching, coding standards, Test‑Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Testing.
  • Assist technical leads in microservices separation and end‑to‑end integration; support test automation engineers.
  • Follow Scrum methodology: sprint backlog refinement, sprint planning, stand‑ups, reviews, retrospectives.
  • Significant Java programming experience with core Java and Spring Boot for microservices.
Bonus Qualities
  • Agile development environment experience.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube.
  • Secure, scalable service development in a public cloud.
  • Experience applying TDD/BDD.
  • Strong collaboration, crafting, estimating, and leadership skills.
