Job Description

As an IVVQ Systems Engineer at Spire, you will lead the definition, planning, and traceability of Integration, Verification, Validation, and Qualification (IVVQ) activities across spacecraft missions. You will ensure our test campaigns and qualification efforts are requirements-driven, technically complete, and efficiently executed, helping to drive a step change in mission assurance, reusability, and systems engineering discipline.

You will be embedded within the Systems Engineering function but will operate with deep engagement at the manufacturing and test level. The IVVQ Systems Engineer is a critical stakeholder in the Build Readiness Review (BRR) process and will be directly accountable for the technical quality and completeness of the verification planning for each build.

Responsibilities Of Your Role
  • Own the verification planning process for missions, defining test scopes, verification stages, and validation activities in line with customer/system requirements.
  • Build and maintain traceability from mission-level requirements to test execution, ensuring Jama, test data, and asset profiles are connected in a single thread of evidence.
  • Act as a technical lead for verification activities during BRR, ensuring the test campaign is well scoped, consistent with the mission requirements, and includes margin for known risks.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing and Test teams to define test configurations, acceptance plans, qualification matrices, and required setup maturity.
  • Support MAIT campaigns in real-time, acting as the first line of engineering escalation when technical issues arise during integration or testing.
  • Drive continuous improvement of verification standards, enabling the reuse of test plans, templates, and configurations across missions and asset variants.
  • Lead the definition and documentation of standard verification approaches for recurring subsystems (e.g. radios, EPS, payloads), improving consistency and maturity.
  • Contribute to the development and validation of asset profiles by ensuring test results are structured, traceable, and reflect real system performance.
Basic Qualifications
  • BSc in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Foundational understanding of verification and validation principles — what test campaigns are for; the difference between verification, validation, and qualification, and how requirements drive test.
  • Familiarity with requirements or test management tooling (e.g. Jama), or a demonstrated ability to pick up structured engineering tools quickly.
  • Ability to read and interpret both high-level mission requirements and lower-level interface or test constraints, with support from senior engineers.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with a willingness to present work and status to a team.
  • Comfortable working hands‑on in a lab, manufacturing, or test environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience supporting manufacturing of multi-satellite constellations.
  • Knowledge of asset profiling approaches and system models (including fault profiles, mode transitions, and performance boundaries).
  • Understanding of test tooling, MFG ENG practices, or telemetry/telecommand systems.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional, multi‑time zone teams across engineering and manufacturing.
Hybrid Work Model

Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in the office.
