Job Description

We're seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Production Manager to work alongside our Head of Production, helping to bring Italia Conti's productions to life at our new Victoria Place campus in Woking, which includes an in-house theatre, as well as at external venues.

This is a varied, hands-on role at the heart of our production activity. You'll help deliver productions safely, efficiently, on time and within budget, working closely with Directors, Course Leaders, students and production teams. Responsibilities include coordinating rehearsals, production meetings, get-ins, get-outs and performances, while ensuring the effective deployment of people, equipment and resources.

You'll also source and manage freelance production staff, support technical, set, props and costume requirements, maintain production resources, undertake risk assessments, and contribute practical production and technical support during show calls.

The role offers the opportunity to deputise for the Head of Production when required, supporting production activity across the school and helping to develop our production facilities and resources.

This post would suit an experienced Production Manager looking to move from freelance work into a permanent role within a leading performing arts training institution, or someone already working in a similar environment seeking a new challenge.

You'll need proven Production Management experience, strong organisational and communication skills, practical knowledge across a range of production disciplines, and a good understanding of health and safety requirements. A genuine passion for performing arts and arts education is essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to make your mark at a pivotal time in Italia Conti's development, joining a committed and high-performing team at the intersection of professional production and performing arts education.

Job Requirements
  • Liaising with the Producer/Course Leader on all aspects of production, ensuring that productions (and production teams) are well supported in the delivery of high quality, well-run productions.
  • Scheduling freelance production staff and coordinating all rehearsals, get ins/outs, performances, and production meetings,
  • Ensuring all departmental roles are suitably covered, including taking on various departmental roles, as required during show calls - especially where multiple productions are running simultaneously.
  • Attending rehearsals and technical sessions and note-taking during meetings as needed.
  • Sourcing, ordering, and maintaining stocks of set and prop-making raw materials.
  • Overseeing the sourcing of props and furniture for the productions, in support of stage management.
Job Responsibilities
  • Liaise with the Head of Production to ensure relevant levels of Duty Management policies and procedures during performances are implemented and reviewed.
  • Maintaining an accurate record of production and technical equipment and resources allocated to the production department, ensuring that efficient and organised storage, systems of hire and student access to resources are maintained in partnership with the Head of Production.
  • Ensuring the production and backstage spaces at Woking are effectively managed so that the use of space is optimised, and that equipment is efficiently stored and maintained and that appropriate systems and a rolling programme of work is in place throughout the year to achieve this.
  • Deputising for the Head of Production.
  • Maintaining accurate digital systems including budget and scheduling spreadsheets.
