IT Technician
  • Hourly pay - £18.51 per hour (Umbrella)
  • Location: Reigate, Surrey
  • Job Type: Short term contract

Join a vibrant and growing educational institution, as an IT Technician. This role is crucial in supporting the school's dynamic IT department, ensuring that technology and software capabilities are fully utilised to enhance the learning experience of our pupils. You will be part of a small, collaborative team, working closely with the Network Manager and the Theatre & AV Manager to provide first-line support.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide immediate support during normal working hours for any IT-related issues.
  • Maintain and support the school's network and computer equipment daily.
  • Assist the Network Manager with IT projects, which may occasionally require work outside normal hours.
  • Offer first-line support to staff and students, handling requests via phone or the ticketing system.
  • Diagnose and resolve basic network, software, and hardware faults, and perform maintenance repairs and upgrades.
  • Routinely test equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Keep the asset database updated and ensure that equipment is secure when not in use.
  • Advise on health and safety matters related to the use and maintenance of IT equipment.
  • Log support requests, maintain communication with users, and keep them informed of progress.
  • Install, configure, and support networked PCs, laptops, tablets, and peripheral devices.
  • Assist in the configuration, installation, and testing of end-user hardware and software solutions.
  • Support and maintain the school's MIS and VLE.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Passion for IT and a strong desire to learn.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity.
  • Proven experience in a similar IT support role.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft 365.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work independently.
  • Flexibility in working hours and sensitivity to different levels of colleagues' ICT expertise.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
  • Experience with video conferencing and Apple products, especially iPads.
  • Experience in an educational environment.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and networking, including network hardware infrastructure.
  • Basic understanding of Apple iMacs.
