IT System Tester

Salary: Up to £50,000 + TAX FREE BONUS + excellent company benefits

Location: Bristol – primarily MoD site based

Clearance Required: Minimum SC (DV desirable)

Employment Type: Permanent

You must be SC Cleared and eligible to get DV clearance or be DV cleared and be a sole British citizen due to the nature of the work.

NexGen Associates are working with one of our Defence clients to recruit an experienced IT System Tester to support the assurance and readiness of IT systems within a regulated Defence environment.

This role is primarily based at a DE&S site in Bristol with regular travel to other MOD and supplier sites mainly across the south of England.

Role Purpose

The IT System Tester is responsible for assuring the quality compliance and readiness of IT systems within a public sector and Defence environment. The role focuses on evidence based testing assessment of documentation maturity and clear communication of assurance outcomes to support accreditation and operational acceptance.

Responsibilities
  • Discovery and assessment of testing evidence and documentation availability across the system lifecycle
  • Evaluation of documentation maturity including completeness accuracy consistency and fitness for purpose
  • Identification documentation and communication of risks arising from gaps in evidence or documentation
  • Contribution to system test strategies plans execution and reporting supported by auditable evidence
  • Production of high quality test reports and assurance documentation for technical assurance and senior stakeholders
  • Support to audits assurance reviews accreditation and acceptance activities
  • Collaboration with engineering delivery security and assurance teams across multiple sites
  • Compliance with MOD DE&S and wider public sector governance security and quality standards
Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Competent engineer or technician preferably IT system focused with practical understanding of system development and test environments
  • Engineering training to a minimum of ONC level or equivalent relevant IT or engineering experience
  • Proven experience in IT system testing within complex regulated or secure environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent report writing skills producing clear concise and evidence based documentation
  • Ability to critically assess documentation quality evidence sufficiency and traceability

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience working within DE&S MOD or Defence delivery organisations
  • Familiarity with assurance governance or accreditation frameworks
  • Experience supporting secure mission critical or safety critical systems
