Job description

Our story goes back more than 150 years, to the chilly southern coast of Scandinavia. From our early success in Sweden and Denmark, we’ve grown into the world’s leading specialist producer of plant-based oils, employing more than 4,000 people across the globe.

We work with our customers to make the products you love even better. The oils we produce go into making your chocolate extra-creamy or putting the crunch into your croissant. And it’s not just food — we work across industries to make products that are higher quality, healthier and better for the planet.

Everything we do is about Making Better Happen™.

AAK Location

This role is based at our site at King Georges Dock in Hull.

About The Role

We are seeking an IT Support Technician to join our UK IT Team based in Hull. Working as part of a small, dedicated, and multi-skilled team, you will play a key role in supporting IT operations across our major UK sites, including Hull and Runcorn, as well as additional locations throughout the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional looking to broaden their technical expertise and gain exposure to a wide range of technologies, systems, and business‑critical IT projects. The successful candidate will provide user and systems support while taking responsibility for several locally hosted IT services and applications, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of IT services across the business.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the first point of contact for IT support requests via helpdesk, telephone, and in-person support for group IT services and business users.
  • Provide user support across all levels of the organisation, delivering excellent customer service and technical assistance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve IT issues, escalating to members of the Global IT Team where appropriate.
  • Configure and deploy user accounts, devices, and business applications.
  • Monitor and manage both user and systems helpdesks to ensure timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
  • Provide remote support to end users, including occasional out-of-hours support where required.
  • Support and maintain Windows server environments, Microsoft 365 services, Active Directory, video conferencing platforms, and Microsoft 365 Administration tools.
  • Develop and maintain support documentation, internal knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform network troubleshooting, diagnostics, and support activities.
  • Support the delivery of IT projects across multiple sites and technologies.
  • Collaborate effectively with local and global IT teams to ensure consistent service delivery and continuous improvement.
About You

The successful candidate will possess the following skills, experience, and attributes:

  • Previous experience working within a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd line IT support environment, ideally with a minimum of four years' experience, supported by relevant technical qualifications and practical expertise gained within an IT support role.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, with excellent attention to detail and a solid understanding of system dependencies and cause-and-effect relationships.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide effective support to users at all levels of the organisation and work collaboratively within both local and global IT teams.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to take ownership of tasks, work proactively using your own initiative, and perform effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of Active Directory, Microsoft 365 administration, and Windows client operating systems, with experience supporting and administering business-critical IT environments.
  • Experience with VMware virtualisation administration; exposure to Cisco technologies would be advantageous.
