Responsibilities

  • Manage own workload through the allocation of calls via the helpdesk.
  • Provide day to day IT support for the local academy.
  • Monitor and repair equipment on a day-to-day basis.
  • Log support calls with external support companies.
  • Provide technical assistance at extra-curricular events.
  • Manage printing resources across the Academy.
  • Maintain user accounts and assign passwords.
  • Support the Academy in its use of media.
  • Maintain inventories of ICT equipment.
  • Escalate issues to the Senior ICT Technician.
  • Assist with hardware-related tasks.
  • Provide remote and face-to-face support.

Responsibilities


  • Manage own workload through the allocation of calls via the helpdesk

  • Provide day to day IT Support for the local academy

  • Monitor and repair equipment on a day-to-day basis to ensure all computer hardware functions safely and effectively to meet the needs of the academy

  • Log support calls with external support companies for hardware and software issues and resolve issues with external support engineers

  • Provide technical assistance at extra-curricular events

  • Manage printing resources across the Academy

  • Maintain user accounts including creation of new user accounts where appropriate; assign staff and pupil passwords

  • Support the Academy in its use of media, including recording classes and events through the editing process

  • Maintain inventories, assets and security marking ICT equipment

  • Support evening events at the Academy

  • Escalate issues to the Senior ICT Technician or ICT cluster Network Manager regarding security and potential risks to the Academy systems

  • Assist with hardware-related tasks: administration of the ICT Equipment Loan system, setting up ICT equipment, maintenance tasks, routine 1st line tasks, fault-finding, installation and setup of new equipment, and support for staff and students in use of ICT resources

  • Provide remote and face-to-face support to resolve customer requirements

  • Maintain a safe working environment and protect personal data in line with Health & Safety and data protection requirements

  • Communicate with all levels of stakeholders, keep them informed of progress, and manage escalation where appropriate

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, customers and other relevant stakeholders

  • Manage and prioritise the allocated workload effectively, completing documentation and escalating when appropriate

  • Test and evaluate system performance and compliance with customer requirements

  • Apply basic scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Linux) to undertake fault finding and rectification

  • Carry out routine maintenance across systems and networks, ensuring organisational compliance

  • Deploy and upgrade applications and manage network security measures

  • Set up storage and data access for staff and implement network security measures where appropriate

  • Identify tools and diagnostic equipment to resolve communications or telecommunications requirements

Contract, Salary, and Start Details

Tupton Hall School, part of the Redhill Academy Trust, is a thriving 11-18 secondary school in Derbyshire. Apprentices benefit from a culture that values achievement, teamwork and real-world experience. The apprenticeship salary is £14,722.50 for the first year, with potential increases depending on age. Hours: 8:00-16:00 (Mon-Thu) and 8:00-15:30 (Fri). Start date: Friday 21 November 2025. Duration: 1 year 6 months.


Training course: Information Communications Technician (level 3). 37 hours 30 minutes per week. Occasionally you may be required to work later to support school events (e.g., Parents Evenings).
