Job summary

Loxam is recruiting for an IT SOC Analyst to join the IT Security team at the Head Office in Lutterworth. The SOC Analyst – Tier 1 will monitor, detect, contain, and eradicate cyber threats that could impact business operations, working with IT Operations teams across UK and beyond.

The role focuses on security operations, governance, and ensuring controls are embedded. Travel to UK sites may be required and a competitive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Certifications in security are desirable (e.g., SSCP, CISSP).
• Experience in a Security Operations Centre is desirable.
• Background as IT Operations, IT Security Officer or Cyber Security Analyst preferred.
• Knowledge of vulnerability assessment methods and security concepts.
• Understanding of Windows and Linux security concerns.

Responsibilities

• Monitor information systems for malicious activity using SIEM tools and prioritise incidents.
• Triages security tickets from users and third parties and investigates them.
• Contain and eradicate threats to limit business disruption.
• Support development of SIEM and SOAR solutions.
• Document all investigative activity in ticketing systems and follow up with teams.
• Research latest threats to drive improvements in tools and processes.
• Collaborate with owners and stakeholders to implement security controls.

Job description

Loxam are currently recruiting an IT SOC Analyst to join our IT Security team at our Head Office in Lutterworth.

The SOC Analyst – Tier 1 role will be part of the LOXAM Security Operations Centre, reporting to the Director of Security Operations. The SOC Analyst – Tier 1 primary role will be to monitor, detect, contain, and eradicate cyber threats that could impact regular business operations. This role will involve a mix of technical security skills, security operations, and governance, as well as maintaining security operations processes/procedures and demonstrating that security controls are embedded across the business.

The role will require solid analytical IT skills and an understanding of the practical application of information security.

The role will require working closely with the IT Operations teams and business functions at all levels in the UK, EU, Middle East, Nordic, and Baltic regions to ensure security-related activities are completed. The role will be based at Lutterworth offices in the UK. Travelling will be expected on occasion.

Responsibilities include:

• Monitor information systems for malicious activity using Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) toolsets. Prioritising according to their criticality and escalating potential or confirmed incidents.
• Triage and investigate security-related tickets from business users and third-party security providers.
• Limiting business disruption from malicious activity by containing and eradicating malicious activity from information systems.
• Support the development of SIEM and SOAR solutions.
• Ensure all investigative activity is correctly documented in ticketing systems and followed up with the relevant support teams.
• Perform research on the latest security/cyber threats, which can drive improvements with existing tools and processes.
• Work with application owners, technology teams and business stakeholders to implement required controls for the IT Security roadmap and IT initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

• Professional certifications such as SSCP, GSOC, SOC-100, or CompTIA Security+ are desirable.
• Any experience working in a SOC is desirable.
• Previous experience as an IT Operations, IT Security Officer or Cyber Security Analyst is desirable.
• Knowledge of vulnerability assessment tools and techniques for evaluating operating systems, networking devices, databases, and web applications.
• Good understanding of networking technologies, principles, and concepts.
• Good understanding of various technologies and operating systems (Windows & Linux) and their related security concerns.
• Basic understanding of Cloud technologies, including Office 365, Azure, and AWS.
• Intermediate-level knowledge of security best practices, security solutions, and methodologies for conducting security assessments, including manual assessments and malicious user testing.
• Intermediate-level knowledge of security assessment tools (commercial, open-source) and manual security testing techniques.
• Intermediate-level knowledge of cybersecurity threats and techniques used by adversaries to compromise technical and non-technical systems.
• Intermediate-level knowledge of scripting languages in PowerShell, Python, Jscript, and bash.
• Basic understanding of web application programming languages, common web vulnerabilities, and security best practices for web development.
• Knowledge of ISO27001, GDPR, and PCI-DSS is desirable.
• The individual must be rigorous in their attention to detail and can prioritise their tasks
