Overview

Lead the successful delivery of medium to large-scale infrastructure programmes, data centre transitions, and technology refresh projects for major transport customers. These projects often span complex Networking, Wintel, UNIX, Security, and Monitoring domains, requiring close collaboration with internal SMEs, vendors, and customer stakeholders.

This role demands someone who can not only manage scope, cost, and schedule but also represent the team in high-stakes customer meetings and navigating difficult conversations. This position requires limited supervision, with the incumbent expected to exercise discretion, judgement, and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead delivery of medium to large-scale infrastructure projects, including data center transitions and technology refresh projects for major transport clients.
  • Manage projects across Networking, Wintel, UNIX, Security, and Monitoring domains, collaborating with internal SMEs, vendors, and customer stakeholders.
  • Oversee scope, cost, and schedule while representing the team in high-stakes customer meetings and navigating complex conversations.
  • Operate with limited supervision, exercising discretion, judgement, and significant decision-making authority.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, with clear accountability for milestones, dependencies, and risks.
  • Lead infrastructure initiatives involving Cisco, firewall migrations, data center moves, asset refreshes and large-scale setups or upgrades.
  • Represent programs in customer forums, handle escalations, present updates, and negotiate outcomes with diplomacy and resilience.
  • Act as deputy to the Team Lead when needed, chairing meetings, making decisions under pressure, and guiding across-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects, SMEs, and vendors to ensure technical solutions meet required standards.
  • Proactively identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and resolve project conflicts while maintaining transparent stakeholder communication.
  • Own and maintain project documentation including briefs, plans, runbooks, risk registers, and status reports.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external governance processes.
  • Adapt quickly to changes and re-align expectations as needed.
  • Demonstrate resilience under pressure and strong negotiation skills.
Other responsibilities
  • Apply formal project methodology to meet quality, schedule, scope and budget commitments.
  • Use structured change management processes to manage scope, cost, and schedule changes.
  • Track and resolve open questions, issues and risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Create and manage detailed project schedules and work plans with clear dependencies and resource assignments.
  • Monitor progress of deliverables and manage resources according to task plans.
  • Continuously assess project health and adjust plans to ensure success.
  • Prioritize tasks and deadlines effectively across the project team.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and success-oriented working environment.
  • Escalate risks and issues promptly and collaborate on mitigation strategies.
Minimum Requirements
  • Degree in Business Administration, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience in managing IT infrastructure projects (e.g., technology refresh, networking/security migrations, system introductions).
  • Strong technical grounding in networking, data centre migrations, and security domains. Cisco ACI and firewall project exposure highly advantageous.
  • Proven experience in customer-facing delivery roles, managing senior stakeholders in challenging environments.
  • PMP certification (or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, SharePoint, MS Planner and ideally JIRA/Confluence.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently, balancing delivery with stakeholder priorities.
  • Strong negotiation, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to stay composed under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical complexity into business language.
Desirable
  • Previous experience delivering projects within public sector or transport industry environments.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and service transition.
  • Experience working with multi-vendor ecosystems
