Indeed Flex is seeking an IT Operations Manager to lead a lean IT team within Risk and Compliance, owning the reliability, security, and effectiveness of our internal technology across the UK and US.

The role is strategic with line management, roadmaps, procurement, and governance; you will oversee the Senior IT Analyst and IT Support Analysts, set priorities, and ensure delivery aligns with business objectives and risk controls.

Qualifications

The Role

As the IT Operations Manager at Indeed Flex, you will lead a lean IT team within Risk and Compliance. You are accountable for the reliability, security, and effectiveness of our internal technology across the UK and US, and for making sure that the function enables the business rather than slowing it down.

This is a strategic leadership role with line management at its core. You will manage the Senior IT Analyst and IT Support Analysts, set the priorities for the team, and own the plan for how IT delivers. Day-to-day support, platform administration, procurement coordination, and project delivery are carried out by your team. You provide the oversight, decisions, and stakeholder leadership that keep that work aligned to business and Risk and Compliance objectives stepping in when necessary to support them.

You will own the IT strategy and roadmap, service performance, vendor procurement outcomes, and the IT control environment, including SOC 2, Cyber Essentials, and GDPR-related IT controls. You will plan and manage the project portfolio, hold vendors and the team to account, and keep leadership informed on service, risk, delivery, and spend.

You will be the IT lead for Indeed Flex and the primary relationship holder with Indeed IT. You will stay close enough to the operation to coach, cover, and intervene when needed, but the role is defined by strategic oversight, people leadership, and project planning and management — not by being the primary resolver of tickets.

What you’ll be doing

• Team Leadership & Line Management: Line manage the Senior IT Analyst and IT Support Analysts across the UK and US. Set objectives, manage performance, support development and hiring, and build coverage so the service is not dependent on one person.
• IT Strategy & Oversight: Develop and maintain the IT strategy and roadmap in line with business and Risk and Compliance objectives, covering infrastructure, identity, security, tooling, and service improvement. Translate that roadmap into clear priorities for the team.
• Service Oversight: Own IT support as a service. Set SLAs and KPIs, review performance, and ensure quality, coverage, and communication across UK and US time zones. Escalate and correct the service when it is not meeting the standard. Technical ticket escalation sits with the Senior IT Analyst.
• Project Planning & Management: Plan, prioritise, and manage the IT project portfolio. Define scope, timescales, dependencies, and success measures; assign delivery to the Senior IT Analyst and others; track progress; and intervene when delivery, risk, or capacity slips.
• Vendor Procurement Ownership: Own vendor procurement for IT from request through risk assessment, approval, contracting, and renewal. Ensure the process is managed effectively, stakeholders are kept informed, and risk decisions are made in a timely way. The Senior IT Analyst coordinates the operational process; you are accountable for the outcome, the Indeed relationship, and vendor performance
• Security, Risk & Compliance: Own the IT control environment and security posture, including policy, access standards, SOC 2, Cyber Essentials, GDPR-related IT controls, and audit outcomes. Direct the team's evidence gathering and control maintenance, and represent IT on security and compliance matters.
• Platform Estate & Parent-Company Relationship: Own the IT estate, including Google Workspace, Okta, Slack, Salesforce administration, endpoints, and identity. Set the standards for access, configuration, and change. Own the relationship with Indeed IT, including escalations and shared services. The Senior IT Analyst is the primary administrator.
• Budget, MI & Governance: Own the IT budget, including forecasting, cost control, and ensuring spend follows the right procurement path. Ensure documentation and procedures are maintained, and provide regular MI to leadership on service performance, incidents, projects, procurement, security, and spend.

What you'll need

• Line Management: Proven experience line managing an IT team, including performance management, coaching, and building coverage across a small team.
• Strategic Oversight: Experience setting priorities, roadmaps, or an operating model for a small IT team, rather than only delivering tickets or projects yourself.
• Project Planning & Management: Demonstrable experience planning and managing a portfolio of IT projects, including scope, timescales, risk, dependencies, and holding delivery to account.
• Vendor Procurement: Experience owning vendor procurement and risk‑assessment outcomes, including stakeholder management, contracts or renewals, and working with legal and procurement.
• Security & Compliance: Working knowledge of IT security and compliance programmes such as SOC 2, Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, and GDPR, with experience being accountable for controls or audit outcomes.
• Service Management: Experience owning SLAs and KPIs for an IT support function and using those measures to improve the service.
• Technical Credibility: Strong working knowledge of Google Workspace, Okta, Slack, Salesforce, Windows and Mac OS, and identity/endpoint environments, sufficient to oversee, challenge, and support the team.
• Stakeholder Leadership: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to influence across the business, manage senior stakeholders, and report clearly to leadership. Line management experience is essential.
