IT Infrastructure Engineer

Driffield, East Riding of Yorkshire YO25

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

Full-time, Permanent working Monday to Friday

Location: Driffield (Hybrid - 2 days per week from home)

Commutable from Hull, Bridlington, Hornsea, Goole, Beverley, Selby, York, Market Weighton, Pocklington or Cottingham

The Opportunity

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are recruiting for a highly motivated Infrastructure Engineer to join a IT team based near Driffield, East Riding and play a key role in supporting and developing core business systems. This is a senior technical position providing 3rd line support, ensuring the reliability, stability, and recoverability of IT infrastructure while driving improvements and preparing for future growth.

Working to ITIL principles, you will maintain policies and procedures, proactively review new technologies, and ensure the infrastructure continues to meet evolving business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management of IT infrastructure including networks, servers, and cloud environments.
  • Promote a continuous improvement strategy across IT systems and services.
  • Manage Windows and *Nix server estates, including setup, configuration, preventative maintenance, and capacity planning.
  • Administer email and messaging systems, including cloud-based archiving solutions.
  • Maintain and optimise backup and recovery environments across hybrid infrastructures.
  • Manage and maintain Oracle and SQL databases, ensuring performance, availability, and data integrity.
  • Contribute to proactive infrastructure management to maximise system uptime.
  • Support applications management including configuration, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Ensure security systems and measures remain appropriate to the evolving threat landscape.
  • Collaborate with the Business Continuity and Emergency Recovery Team on disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Automate infrastructure tasks and support deployment of new systems and applications.
  • Provide timely resolution of escalated 3rd line support issues for key business systems.
  • Maintain documentation in line with ITIL requirements and the configuration management database (CMDB).
About You

We are looking for a candidate with strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to work under pressure while delivering practical solutions.

Essential Experience & Skills
  • Excellent technical knowledge across networking, cloud and hosting technologies, domain services, server operating systems, storage, virtualisation, databases, endpoint protection, and the Microsoft 365 stack.
  • Strong experience with cloud-based mail archiving (e.g., Mimecast).
  • Expertise in backup and recovery solutions across hybrid environments.
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud infrastructure (Azure).
  • Experience with solutions such as Exchange, SQL Server, and SharePoint.
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Knowledge of vendor licensing models.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Current driving licence.
Desirable Experience & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience with IFS Apps 10 database administration (Oracle/SQL Server).
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery technologies and methodologies.
  • Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite.
  • PowerShell scripting and DevOps practices.
