A major defence contractor in the UK is offering an apprenticeship in Information Technology. You will support and maintain digital systems, engage in cyber security, and develop operational skills across IT infrastructure. This four-year apprenticeship programme is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing digital systems team and gain hands on experience within the Information Technology and Information Systems sector with a major defence contractor.
Overview — The Information Management (IM) Academy will give you experience of operational and service delivery across information technology infrastructure including networks and enterprise applications. Our operational teams cover everything from user engagement through to cyber security threat detection and prevention. We use ITIL standards for our operational management and align with standards such as the UK government Cyber Security Essentials Plus scheme, and you will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of these and begin to apply them in the workplace. In this area you would be involved in operations and service delivery for the enterprise server infrastructure and desktop ecosystem including performance monitoring and capacity management.
You will initially study on a 16-month programme, split by 13 months practical and 3 months End Point Assessment (EPA), studying a Digital Support Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship with FIREBRAND (part of the BPP Education Group). You will learn with our supplier who are leaders in this sector who offer a blended online and residential learning programme alongside on the job learning. There will be the opportunity for follow on study at Level 3 or Level 4 for a specialist route or to complete the rest of the apprenticeship with on the job learning. The IM Academy approach will offer you experience of Digital Infrastructure; Digital solutions and Operations Management across the directorate before confirming the role you will take when you complete the scheme.

MBDA UK Limited requires all employees to achieve the required medical and national security clearance for their role. Some restrictions relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. After offer, successful candidates will need to undergo HM Government Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), managed by MBDA’s Personnel Security Team. The role requires the applicant to be a British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship and able to achieve the specified clearance levels.
Salary: £18,000 plus a £3,000 joining bonus. Closing date for this role is midnight on Monday 22 January.
Working pattern: Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working, but this will depend on project requirements and the need for access to specific site facilities.
