Qualifications

Job description

Are you passionate about technology, hands‑on problem solving, and delivering outstanding customer service? As an IT Field Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting our business by providing first‑class technical support and guidance across our store network, ensuring our teams have the technology they need to help our customers achieve their best night's sleep.

The Infrastructure team are responsible for supporting and maintaining the company's IT systems and for providing efficient desktop support to all business users. The department is also responsible for resolving any IT‑related faults quickly and efficiently, including a broad range of queries from how to set up an email account to system diagnostics, plus enhancing and developing the IT provision extended within the business.

The team support approximately 200 stores, 6 Warehouses, 1 Factory and 2 Head Office functions. There are in excess of 1000 users of varying degree of technical ability. The Field Engineer for the Scotland / North and NI will be responsible for 50 stores, 2 Warehouses and 1 office location. Initially this role will be supporting the existing Field Engineer who is on retirement rundown with an exit planned for October 2026. This is a mobile role with the expectation that the successful candidate will spend 4 days per week visiting stores in their region.

Your Impact: IT Technical Support & Field Service

Your day‑to‑day will see you providing hands‑on technical support, both remotely and on‑site. You'll maintain and troubleshoot IT hardware including POS systems, desktops, laptops, printers and network equipment, as well as supporting store staff with user issues and technical requests. Your problem‑solving skills, genuine passion for technology, and ability to communicate clearly with people from all backgrounds will ensure you deliver an excellent service to all our colleagues and customers.

Responsibilities of an IT Field Engineer
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues
    • Perform routine maintenance on the SLEEP PRO and resolve
    • Install Wi‑Fi access points in stores and maintain existing units.
    • Set up new stores including PC / printer and phone line installations.
    • Remove equipment from closing or relocating stores.
    • Software installation to desktops and laptops
    • Fault‑finding to laptops and desktops
    • Reporting faults and maintaining logs on servers, desktops and laptops
    • Patching of network and phones
    • Routine maintenance visits to allocated stores and sites
    • Ensure all logs for equipment and users are maintained

Escalate IT issues to the Head of Infrastructure where necessary

What We're Hoping You'll Bring:
  • Previous experience in a field‑based IT support, desktop support, or IT engineering role.
  • Proficient with Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 and hardware troubleshooting (desktops, laptops, POS, networks, printers).
  • A methodical, resourceful approach and the resilience to tackle unexpected problems with a “can do” attitude.
  • Confident communication skills and the ability to translate technical issues clearly to non‑technical colleagues.
  • Ideally, a full UK driving licence; comfortable working independently and travelling to local stores.
  • Commitment to delivering a high standard of service and supporting the wider business.
