Job description
Overview

We are seeking a new member of staff to join our busy back office support team at Bhatt Murphy. Working under the supervision of our IT Manager, the successful candidate will provide IT support to colleagues and assist with premises and facilities maintenance related tasks. This will be a varied and busy role with excellent opportunities for training and progression. While previous experience of IT support is desirable, we are keen to hear from candidates with good practical skills, common sense and an interest in IT.

Location

This will be a full time position, based at our office in Dalston.

Responsibilities
  • IT
    • Providing in person and remote IT support to colleagues
    • Reviewing and resolving IT support requests raised through the firm’s helpdesk
    • Troubleshooting Windows desktop issues
    • Troubleshooting user issues with laptop and mobile devices
    • Assisting colleagues with the setup of Teams and Zoom meetings
    • Resolving printing and copying problems
    • Troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network problems with the support of the firm’s IT Manager
    • Assisting with the management of the firm’s IT asset inventory
    • Assisting colleagues with the administration of the firm’s website and social media accounts
    • Configuration and set up of equipment for new employees and assisting with new starter inductions
    • Assisting with policy updates and staff training
  • Premises & Facilities
    • Assisting with internal office moves
    • Troubleshooting premises issues and booking contractors if required
    • Set up of electronic equipment (copiers, franking machine and other small appliances)
    • Liaising with the building management company
    • Booking handyman visits and organising other repairs to the building
    • Assisting with annual H&S risk assessments
    • Assisting colleagues with ergonomic assessments
    • Booking annual electrical and fire equipment tests
    • Troubleshooting any problems with the firm’s intruder and fire alarms
Skills & experience

Essential:

  • Good IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office packages
  • Previous experience of working in an office (preferably for a law firm)
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexible attitude i.e. prepared to take on a variety of tasks
  • Good problem solving skills

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in an IT support role
  • Windows 10/11 - administration and support
  • Office 365 - administration and support
  • Experience of using legal case management software
  • Experience of using WordPress
  • Active directory experience
  • Knowledge of VOIP telephone systems
  • Previous experience of facilities and premises maintenance
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations

Salary & benefits

The salary for this post is £28,000 + 5% pension contribution. We offer up to 29 days of paid annual leave plus all public holidays.
