Job summary

Nomios is seeking an IT Engineer to maintain and evolve our LAN, cloud, and endpoint environments. You will drive automation across IT, working both independently and with a collaborative team.

The role requires hands‑on experience with Windows, Linux, and network services, plus scripting and cloud tooling in a dynamic environment. Hybrid work from our Basingstoke office is available with some homeworking.

Qualifications

• Experience with LAN infrastructure design and support.
• Strong knowledge of IP routing protocols (OSPF, BGP).
• Familiarity with QoS/DSCP tagging and network optimisation.
• Scripting: PowerShell, Python, Bash.
• Experience administering Windows and Linux environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Intune and Entra ID.
• Exposure to automation/DevOps tools: Ansible, Terraform, Git.
• Familiar with macOS environments and Azure.

Your role as IT Engineer

You’ll play a key role in maintaining and evolving the business’s networking and systems infrastructure, helping ensure our LAN, cloud, and endpoint environments run securely and efficiently while driving automation across the wider IT function. The ideal candidate will have experience with:

Networking / LAN Infrastructure

• Strong understanding of LAN switching technologies
• Solid experience with IP routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
• Knowledge of QoS (Quality of Service) and DSCP tagging

Scripting

• Hands‑on experience with:
• PowerShell
• Python
• Bash

Systems

• Strong knowledge of:
• Windows environments (server & client)
• Linux systems administration

Microsoft Ecosystem

• Proven experience with:
• Microsoft 365 (O365)
• Intune (Endpoint Management)
• Entra ID (Azure AD)

Automation & DevOps

• Exposure to at least one of the following or similar:
• Power Apps
• Power Automate
• Ansible
• Terraform
• Git (version control)

Further desirable skills include:

• Experience supporting MacBook / macOS environments
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure

Organisation Structure

The IT Engineer reports to the Group IT Architect.

Job Specifics

• Location: This role is based at our Basingstoke office, with flexibility for occasional homeworking by agreement (free hot & cold drinks, breakfast items, snacks, lunches, and regular takeaway Fridays are provided to all staff in the office!)
• Hours: Full‑time, Monday‑Friday, 9:00am‑5:30pm
