IT Consultant (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)Birmingham (Hybrid – Minimum 2 days on-site) £60,000–£63877 (12M FTC)

REED Technology are working with a client who are seeking a highly skilled IT Consultant to play a pivotal role in transforming and stabilising their IT function. This is a hands‑on technical position requiring expertise in server design and implementation, network/infrastructure projects, and cloud migrations. The successful candidate will lead critical initiatives, including moving SharePoint from on-premises to the cloud, designing and implementing 100+ servers across multiple locations, and building a robust new network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement server infrastructure across multiple sites.
  • Lead the migration of SharePoint from on-premises to cloud platforms.
  • Oversee the development of network and infrastructure architecture to support future growth.
  • Identify and implement improvements across IT Service Desk, Operations, and Infrastructure.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to maximise ROI on IT investments.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure compliance with contracts and service level agreements.
  • Support capacity planning and proactive service delivery to meet current and future requirements.
  • Review and implement IT policies, architectural standards, and design principles.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience as a Lead IT Manager, Head of IT, or similar senior technical role.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with:
    • Server design and implementation (multi‑site environments).
    • Network and infrastructure architecture.
    • Cloud migrations, particularly SharePoint.
  • Solid understanding of IT operations, service desk management, and vendor management.
  • Experience with SQL database administration (optimization and security) – desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
