Job summary

SSE plc is seeking an IT Asset & Billing Analyst to support IT planning, expenditure and cost management within the IT Asset & Billing team. You will collaborate with Service Delivery to deliver portfolio cost reporting, cost governance and project assurance.

Based in the UK with a base location including Havant, Reading, Glasgow or Perth, the role requires about 50% on site and 50% remote work, handling budgets, forecasts and investment planning for IT projects across the programme.

Qualifications

  • Forecasting and investment planning experience in project cost management.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to turn data into actionable insight.
  • Capex/Revex management and cost governance experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure and own issues.
  • Team-oriented with prioritisation and process improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting day-to-day coordination of activities across the IT Asset & Billing team, including portfolio-level reporting, project cost controls, and cost management processes.
  • Providing financial management support for IT projects and run costs, including budget development, investment planning, forecasting, risks, variance analysis and transfers.
  • Monitor the portfolio of projects and programmes from inception to closure, ensuring delivery is on time, within budget and meets strategic objectives.
  • Ensuring project costs are classified, recorded and governed in line with accounting policies, including Capex and Revex requirements.
  • Using portfolio cost reporting to assess portfolio health, identify areas for improvement, and support interventions.

Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations : Havant, Reading, Glasgow and Perth

Salary: £50,964 - £60,899 and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

The IT Asset & Billing Analyst works within the IT Asset and Billing team, focusing on IT planning, expenditure and cost management.

This position requires collaboration with Service Delivery teams and partners to facilitate the operation of IT Projects including portfolio and value stream level reporting, cost governance, assurance within GTS

You will
  • Supporting the day-to-day coordination of activities across the IT Asset & Billing team, including portfolio-level reporting, project cost controls, and cost management processes.
  • Providing financial management support for IT projects and run costs, including budget development, investment planning, forecasting, risks, variance analysis and transfers
  • Monitor the portfolio of projects and programmes from inception to closure, ensuring that delivery is on time, within budget, minimising potential risks and assessing to make sure it meets all strategic objectives
  • Ensuring project costs are appropriately classified, recorded, and governed in line with accounting policies, including Capex and Revex requirements
  • Using portfolio cost reporting to assess portfolio health, identify areas for improvement, and support appropriate interventions/corrective actions.
You Have
  • A strong background in project/programme cost management, including forecasting, and investment planning, with the ability to explain complex processes clearly and concisely to customers and wider stakeholder groups.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, combined with strong analytical capability and the ability to translate data into actionable insight to support decision making.
  • Experience of Capex and Revex management, cost governance, and investment reporting
  • The confidence to take ownership of issues and requests, with the ability to work effectively in a pressurised environment.
  • A strong team focus, with the ability to manage priorities, support new demands, and identify opportunities to improve processes.
