Job summary

Smart10 Ltd, trading as SMT Recruitment, is seeking an ISO 9001 Audit & Compliance Officer in St Albans. This hands-on role conducts internal ISO audits across departments and drives corrective actions to completion.

You’ll support wider compliance activities, including policy updates, risk management and GDPR adherence, and assist with external ISO audits. The position is hybrid (4 days office-based, 1 day WFH) with regular travel to St Albans.

Qualifications

• Strong practical ISO 9001 knowledge and hands-on auditing experience.
• Experience with ISO 14001 is a plus.
• Accurate, organised and proactive with ownership.
• Ability to build relationships and influence staff to follow compliant processes.

Responsibilities

• Plan, conduct and document internal ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 audits across departments.
• Support wider compliance activity, including policies, risk management and GDPR adherence.
• Review processes and documentation, identifying non-conformances and areas for improvement.
• Produce audit reports and manage corrective actions through to completion.
• Support external ISO audits, management reviews and wider QEMS activities.

ISO 9001 Audit & Compliance Officer

Salary: £45,000-£50,000

Location: St Albans, Hertfordshire - 4 days office-based, 1 day WFH

Please note: This role requires regular travel to St Albans 4 days per week, so please ensure the location is realistically commutable before applying.

Purpose of the role

This is a hands‑on ISO auditing role, with approximately 2-3 days per week focused on audit activity across the business.

You’ll work directly with different departments, reviewing how processes and procedures are being followed, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring any corrective actions are followed right through to completion.

What you’ll be doing

• Plan, conduct and document internal ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 audits across departments.
• Support wider compliance activity across the business, including maintaining policies and procedures, risk management, GDPR and ensuring ongoing adherence to regulatory and ISO requirements.
• Review processes, procedures and documentation, identifying non-conformances and areas for improvement.
• Produce clear audit reports and manage corrective actions through to completion, proactively following up with departments and maintaining the audit tracker.
• Support external ISO audits, management reviews and wider Quality & Environmental Management System activities.
