Senior ISDA Legal Analyst

Department : Legal

Role : Full-time permanent

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

The Senior ISDA Legal Analyst will be responsible for preparing, negotiating, and executing master trading agreements for the Group. These include documentation relating to OTC and cleared derivatives, commodities futures (including energy products), and any ancillary agreements or NDAs required to support global trading relationships.

The role will also involve reviewing and advising on vendor agreements and providing broader legal support to the Legal team on matters relating to general corporate functions, including compliance and regulatory issues where appropriate.

Duties include
  • Prepare, negotiate, and arrange execution of master trading agreements with global counterparties, including ISDA, FIA, and related documentation.
  • Negotiate agreements directly with counterparties, including preparing and submitting draft documentation prior to negotiation and coordinating execution of final agreements.
  • Conduct due diligence before execution and post-completion reviews of agreements.
  • Draft new standard template agreements and update existing templates in line with current legal guidance and regulatory developments.
  • Escalate complex or material legal issues within your area of responsibility to legally qualified colleagues as appropriate.
  • Provide regular updates on the status of negotiations and outstanding legal issues.
  • Carry out ancillary administrative tasks, including obtaining internal approvals and required terms for completion of agreements.
  • Instruct and liaise with external law firms as required, including processing invoices and maintaining accurate records.
  • Proactively manage the renewal or replacement of agreements that are approaching expiry.
  • Work closely with the business to identify, assess, and escalation significant legal risks.
  • Maintain awareness of current and forthcoming regulatory requirements impacting the business.
  • Support the legal documentation process across your assigned document portfolio, safeguarding the firm’s reputation by ensuring compliance with legal and internal governance standards.
  • Assist with dispute resolution processes where required.
  • Provide support to Compliance functions, including KYC, on an ad‑hoc basis.
Skill & Experience
  • Proven experience negotiating trading documentation, particularly FIA Master Netting Agreements and Terms of Business.
  • Experience with physical gas and power trading in North America would be advantageous.
  • Law degree or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISDA agreements governed by New York law and relevant market practices.
  • Experience working within a regulated business environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders effectively across multiple functions.
