Job summary

Place UK Ltd is seeking an Irrigation Specialist to install, operate and monitor irrigation systems across plantations. You will ensure nutrients and water are delivered per plan, and that measurement systems are accurate and compliant with standards.

You will monitor moisture, pH, EC and run-off, maintain records and supervise small teams when required, in a safe working environment and in line with food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with installation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
• Ability to interpret and implement irrigation plans.
• Knowledge of water management and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Irrigation Specialist

Reporting to: Irrigation Manager

Job Purpose/Summary: Installation, operating and monitoring of the complete irrigation systems to ensure that the plant irrigation systems are used effectively, that dosing media are delivered within agreed limits and standards, and that correct measurement systems are in place and are monitored in accordance with statutory and company standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Safety

• Promote and support a safe working environment.
• Escalate any safety issues immediately to Line Manager.
• Adhere to all health and safety requirements, always.

Food Safety

• Adhere to and ensure all staff always adhere to Business Food Safety Standards.
• Escalate any potential Food Safety issues immediately.

Irrigation

• Install the irrigation to a plan prior to planting
• Apply nutrients and water to an agreed plan
• Manage daily irrigation and fertigation to optimum level
• Monitor substrate moisture levels, pH, EC and run off levels
• Monitor soil moisture levels

Reporting and Licenses

• Keep records of water and fertiliser use for each plantation
• Keep within irrigation abstraction licenses and keep diligent records of water usage
• Keep updated plans of irrigation systems and pipework

Working Relationships

• Discuss new field layouts with Farm Managers and Irrigation Manager
• Maintain productive working relationship with Farm Managers, Irrigation team, and those in co-dependent operating disciplines.
• Supervise small teams when required

General

• Keep fields tidy, safe from hazards and remove all rubbish
• Maintain all equipment, including pumps, control systems, filter and pipework and retain relevant records

Skills

• Strong knowledge of irrigation system components and their functions
• Proficient in troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with irrigation systems
• Attention to detail to ensure accurate installation and maintenance of irrigation systems

Learning & Development

• Knowledgeable or willing to learn Netafim and Priva Irrigation systems.
