Job summary

BBC is seeking an IP Lawyer in London on a twelve-month fixed-term contract within BBC Legal. The role covers a broad range of intellectual property matters, supporting business and creative teams while protecting the BBC’s content, brands and innovations.

You will collaborate with content, rights and technology teams to deliver practical legal solutions. You will handle agreements, assess IP risks and support patent, copyright and licensing activities, including archive-related work.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor or CILEX with current practising certificate or ability to obtain one before starting the role.
• Experience in a law firm, IP practice or in-house with exposure to IP rights.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with practical, commercially-minded legal advice.

Responsibilities

• Provide IP law advice across BBC Group on patents, copyrights, brands and technology.
• Draft and negotiate agreements relating to technology, R&D, NDAs and licensing.
• Advise on IP risks and regulatory requirements for innovation and technology projects.
• Support Senior Counsel on patent matters including SEPs, pools and licensing.
• Assist archive activities and collaboration with Content Rights and Business Affairs.
