Job summary

Finatal is seeking an Investment Director to lead the UK lower mid-market investment program. You will originate opportunities, assess deals, and drive execution from initial diligence through to exit, partnering with founders and portfolio management teams to create value.

The role demands a strong track record across origination, modelling, and buy-and-build strategies, with the credibility to present to the Investment Committee and to mentor junior members of the team.

Qualifications

• Significant private equity experience, preferably within the UK lower mid-market.
• Proven track record across origination, assessment, execution, and exit.
• Strong relationships with advisers, management teams, founders and other intermediaries.
• Expertise in financial modelling, valuation, due diligence and deal structuring.
• Experience of buy-and-build strategies and M&A-led value creation.
• Excellent commercial judgement and ability to engage founders and management teams.

Responsibilities

• Originate and develop new investment opportunities across the UK lower mid-market.
• Lead the evaluation and execution of new platform investments, buyouts and growth opportunities.
• Prepare and present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee.
• Work closely with portfolio management teams to support strategic growth initiatives and value creation.
• Identify and execute bolt-on acquisitions as part of buy-and-build strategies across the portfolio.
• Take an active role in portfolio management through to exit.
• Support and develop junior members of the investment team.

Finatal is partnered with a highly regarded UK lower mid-market private equity investor looking to appoint an Investment Director.

The firm invests in established, growing businesses and has a strong track record of partnering with ambitious management teams to support organic growth, strategic M&A and buy-and-build strategies. This is a senior investment role with responsibility across the full investment lifecycle, from originating and assessing new opportunities through to deal execution, portfolio value creation and exit.

The Role

• Originate and develop new investment opportunities across the UK lower mid-market.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate finance advisers, management teams, founders and other intermediaries.
• Lead the evaluation and execution of new platform investments, buyouts and growth opportunities.
• Take ownership of transactions across financial analysis, modelling, commercial assessment, due diligence, structuring and negotiation.
• Prepare and present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee.
• Work closely with portfolio management teams to support strategic growth initiatives and value creation.
• Identify and execute bolt-on acquisitions as part of buy-and-build strategies across the portfolio.
• Take an active role in portfolio management through to exit.
• Support and develop junior members of the investment team.

Requirements

• Significant private equity investment experience, ideally within the UK lower mid-market.
• Strong track record across the full investment lifecycle, from origination and assessment through execution, portfolio management and exit.
• Demonstrable experience originating investment opportunities and developing adviser and management relationships.
• Strong transaction execution capabilities, including financial modelling, valuation, due diligence and deal structuring.

• Strong commercial judgement and an ability to build credible relationships with founders and management teams.
