Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is highly motivated to work in a dynamic team and to contribute to our Investment Banking business.

Our EMEA Energy, Power, Renewables & Mining (EPRM) team is responsible for the origination and execution of public / private M&A and capital markets transactions involving corporate clients and financial sponsors in the broader sector. The team has a large network of relationships with the most prominent companies in the EMEA region, and across all subsectors.

As an Associate in the EMEA EPRM Investment Banking coverage team, you will play a vital and accountable role in maintaining a strategic dialogue with key clients and executing M&A and capital markets transactions. You will play a pivotal role in implementing the execution function including working with fellow junior bankers as well as assisting more senior bankers. You will also have plenty of opportunities to partner with colleagues from other countries and product teams such as M&A, ECM and DCM.

Job responsibilities
  • Interact with senior deal team members and client management teams on a daily basis to execute transactions
  • Support origination efforts and any client engagement initiatives by preparing marketing pitches, presentations or any such analysis that may be required to win a new mandate
  • Define, guide and review detailed valuation analyses, including DCF, trading comparables, transaction comparables and LBO analyses; and any other detailed combination and other financial analyses in the context of M&A transactions or pitch situations
  • Coordinate with other teams including leveraged finance, debt capital markets, equity capital markets, ratings and credit
  • Keep abreast of key market developments in the sector and enhance knowledge of the client base and relevant market dynamics
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to analysts
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • 3-5 years of prior, relevant work experience in Investment Banking
  • Exceptional financial modelling, valuation and analytical skills
  • Highly organized, detail oriented and proactive, energetic and decisive, with high level of integrity
  • Excellent technology skills with deep knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint skills and ability to quickly learn new software applications
  • Highly motivated, adaptable, able to multi-task and manage projects independently
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and defend their validity
  • Ability to comfortably interact with clients and colleagues in a professional and mature manner
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Experience in the broader Energy, Power, Renewables and Mining space
  • Additional European language skills

This role encompasses the performance of regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the relevant regulatory authorities to carry out such activities.
