Job summary

Cummins is seeking an enthusiastic Supply Chain Planning student to join our Production Scheduling team in Huddersfield for a placement year starting Summer 2027. You will learn how a major global organization operates and gain practical tools to become an industry expert.

The role requires onsite availability for part of the week, with travel or relocation to Huddersfield on your own behalf. You will collaborate across Materials, Demand Management, Warehousing and Operations to optimise

Qualifications

• Working towards a degree in Business Studies, Supply Chain, Transportation & Logistics with modules in production/manufacturing systems and inventory controls.
• Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
• A desire to learn with a willingness to take on responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Working with Materials, Demand Management, Account Management, Warehousing and Operations to ensure efficient management of production plans & inventory control processes.
• Assisting functional team members to improve internal processes for inventory management including 3PL inventory tracking, coordinating and releasing assembly line production plans.
• Resolving problems identified by internal team members and assisted functions.
• Working with cross-functional teams to develop and improve foundational planning & control.
• Manipulating and using data to establish the basis for actions. Sourcing information, interpreting, developing, and implementing solutions to achieve results on time.
• Assisting the department to achieve its business goals and, representing and promoting Cummins Turbo Technologies and the department internally and externally to Customers and Suppliers.

During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry.

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence Summer of 2027.

• Working towards a degree in an appropriate discipline (Business Studies, Supply Chain, Transportation & Logistics) which includes modules in production / manufacturing systems, supply chain, Inventory controls and an emphasis on numerical skills.
• Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
• Good understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
• A desire to learn with a willingness to take on responsibility.
