Job description

We’re on a mission to make money work for everyone.

We’re waving goodbye to the complicated and confusing ways of traditional banking.

With our hot coral cards and get-paid-early feature, combined with financial education on social media and our award winning customer service, we have a long history of creating magical moments for our customers!

We’re not about selling products - we want to solve problems and change lives through Monzo.

Our Internal Communications team

You’re creative, with a passion for great communication. You’re productive and reliable, able to pro-actively plan, manage and own core operational work and project tasks within the Internal Comms team.

You’re collaborative, comfortable dealing with ambiguity, work quickly without dropping quality, and build great relationships across the business. You know how to make sense of data to see how our comms are landing, spotting opportunities to tweak and improve how we do things. You balance technical detail with the bigger picture, making sure our messaging stays consistent, compliant and strategic.

  • Partner with stakeholders across the business- especially People Team and Operations, to understand key changes, offer sound comms advice, and independently deliver targeted comms plans using our tone of voice.
  • Support more high visibility, company-wide projects and campaigns, partnering with the Internal Comms Lead to deliver plans and manage rollouts.
  • Own specific actions or the overall plan for team goals and projects. Represent internal comms in project groups, making sure messaging lands smoothly, at the right time so everyone understands their role.
  • Manage everyday comms requests into our channel efficiently, matching messages to the right audiences across Monzo and Global Teams and delegating or triaging to others in the team as appropriate.
  • Keep our Internal Comms tracker up to date so we have a clear view of what’s happening and when. Work with stakeholders so they flag requests early and keep things running smoothly.
  • Use data to see what’s working and help stakeholders measure their success, as well as demonstrate the value we add as a Comms Team.
  • Work with the Space & Community team to brainstorm and support company engagement initiatives and events: from fun virtual campaigns to recognition.
  • Run workshops and build bitesize guides to share comms tips and tricks with team leads and managers. Create on-brand visuals and smart Google Slides decks, including templates to share with wider teams.
  • Keep processes simple, clear and up to date, making sure everything we send out is compliant with data privacy and security rules while still feeling uniquely Monzo.
  • 2–3 years of comms experience or a role where you’ve needed to engage and/or communicate regularly with different groups of people, with an understanding of best-practice channels and approach.
  • You can pull clear, engaging copy together quickly and accurately, setting a high bar for our tone of voice, spelling and grammar across Monzo.
  • Proficient in using comms tools; comfortable pulling data to spot trends, measure success and figure out what’s landing well and why.
  • A self-starter who works well independently under pressure, unblocks themselves when stuck, and knows when to ask for guidance on complex issues.
  • Confident talking to people at all levels. You’re comfortable giving constructive feedback to teammates and actively ask for feedback on your own work to make it even better.
  • You naturally look out for minor problems or gaps in how the team operates and work with others to fix them.
  • High emotional intelligence, a real buzz for helping others land great comms, and enthusiasm for celebrating team wins across Monzo.
Impact and Ownership
  • Operational impact: Delivering internal comms operations and projects, scoping and delivering actions towards squad goals, and proactively identifying improvement opportunities to boost efficiency.
  • Audience expertise: Has an in-depth understanding of the Ops audience and uses that insight to better Monzo’s comms work.
  • Budgeting: Taking ownership of budget management and cost control when needed for your projects e.g. recognition and engagement initiatives.
  • Using systems & data: Able to work with our systems like Slack, Notion, Google Meet etc, pulling and using data to support measurement of key initiatives and to drive awareness of the value added by Internal Comms.
  • Collaboration: Working independently on BAU tasks while collaborating with others to solve ambiguous or unexpected requirements.
  • Gives feedback: Giving direct, actionable feedback to teammates, accepting feedback thoughtfully, and proactively communicating work progress or managing upwards to unblock your progress.
  • Documentation: Proactively documenting all new and existing comms approaches and processes and role modelling how we store our documents and work.
  • Constructive challenge: Proactively identifies outdated comms practices, proposing clear, actionable alternatives to improve how we communicate.
  • Relationship building: Builds trusted relationships with Ops leaders, offering sound guidance on timing, channel, and message framing to shape day-to-day decisions.
Behaviours and Ways of Working
  • Ownership and judgement: Takes full accountability for delivery within their scope of work. Navigates day-to-day ambiguity by breaking down tasks, asking clarifying questions, and taking initiative without waiting to be prompted. Adapts approach when feedback or new information indicates a change of direction is needed.
  • Sustainable high performance: Delivers consistently high-quality work by managing their time and capacity effectively. Sets realistic expectations on deadlines, establishes healthy personal boundaries, and communicates workload risks early.
  • Self-awareness and growth: Actively seeks feedback from peers and stakeholders to improve performance. Demonstrates self-awareness by reflecting on personal working style, acknowledging development areas, and applying feedback directly to day-to-day work.
  • Constructive challenge: Appropriately questions assumptions or unclear task inputs within their project scope. Asks insightful questions to get clarity on goals, advocating for practical solutions with curiosity and respect for different perspectives.
  • Creates clarity: Brings order and structure to their own projects and responsibilities. Turns complex information into clear, actionable updates and communication for immediate team members and project stakeholders.
  • Collective mindset: Actively contributes to the broader Internal Comms and People Collective goals. Openly shares context, templates, and key learnings with peers, making sure work is documented so it can be easily reused across Monzo.
  • Role-modelling and culture setting: Maintains a positive, solution-focused attitude, particularly when adapting to changing priorities or tight deadlines. Demonstrates high standards of reliability, professionalism, and support for team members.
