Job summary

Oyster Yachts, a renowned British luxury yacht builder, seeks an Internal Boat Builder to contribute to interior fit-out at our Wroxham site. You will produce and install components from technical drawings, ensuring high standards of safety, quality and efficiency.

This hands-on role emphasizes carpentry, joinery and precise finishing across our yacht range. Reporting to the Boat Builder Manager, you will work with timber and GRP materials, adhering to strict build standards and collaborating

Qualifications

  • Strong carpentry/joinery skills with a practical approach.
  • Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices and Health and Safety requirements.
  • Experience in marine timber/GRP boats is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Fitting ply bulkheads to yacht interiors.
  • Epoxy lay-up of sub-assemblies for interiors.
  • Making and fitting cabin sole bearers.
  • Cladding bulkheads with polished veneered ply.
  • Making and fitting a variety of boat furniture.
  • Hanging cabin doors and fitting sole boards.
  • Carrying out basic upholstery work on overhead panels.

Oyster Yachts is a world-renowned British luxury yacht builder, known for producing some of the finest bluewater sailing yachts in the world. At our Wroxham, Norfolk site, our skilled Boat Building teams focus on the detailed interior construction that brings each yacht to life—transforming high-quality materials into beautifully crafted living spaces.

The Role

As an Internal Boat Builder, you will play a key role in the construction and fit-out of yacht interiors, contributing directly to the quality, functionality, and finish of each vessel. Reporting to the Boat Builder Manager at our Wroxham site, you will be responsible for manufacturing, assembling, and installing a variety of internal components across our yacht range.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong carpentry/joinery skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of how interior elements integrate within the wider build. You will work from technical drawings and specifications to ensure all components are produced and fitted accurately, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Fitting ply bulkheads

About You
  • Have robust boatbuilding construction knowledge
  • Possess competent manufacturing knowledge (timber, fibreglass products, for example)
  • Have a good understanding of safe working practices and Health and Safety
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Are skilled in the use of hand and power tools
  • Have experience of reading and understanding technical drawings
  • Have experience of working with raw materials and tools to a high standard
  • Have previous experience in the marine industry working with timber/GRP boats (desirable)
  • Have high levels of attention to detail and are self-motivated
  • Are comfortable working at pace with a high volume of work and are a team player
Qualifications
  • Relevant C&G Qualifications or equivalent (desirable)
