Job summary

Forvis Mazars in the UK is seeking an Internal Auditor within the Banking Risk Consulting Team. You will lead internal audit engagements for banking and building society clients, manage fieldwork, and present to Audit Committees.

You will supervise junior team members, develop client relationships, and help identify opportunities for new work. ACA/CA/ACCA/IIA/CII qualification required, with experience in UK financial services regulations.

Qualifications

• ACA, CA, ACCA, IIA or CII (or equivalent) qualification.
• Experience of planning, delivering and managing internal audit fieldwork.
• Experience of managing a portfolio of Banking and Financial Services Internal Audit clients.
• Experience of delivering and leading reviews such as – Underwriting and Credit Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Deposit and Card operations, Compliance Framework reviews, Third party Risk Management, Payment operations.
• Good understanding of the UK regulations applicable to Financial Services (Banks, Building Societies and non-bank lenders).
• Good understanding of requirements under MCOBs for Regulated loans.
• Strong communication and report writing skills; confident speaker for training sessions and webinars to clients/colleagues.
• Experience presenting at Audit Committees.
• Good interpersonal, client handling and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Management of a portfolio of clients, including overseeing the preparation and delivery of Internal Audit plan, Risk Assessments, client engagement, committee presentation and reporting.
• Performance and management of internal audit fieldwork with a team of internal auditors including assistant manager and senior consultants.
• Preparation and review of draft internal audit reports and other deliverables.
• Leading opening and closing meetings with key client contacts (Exco).
• Developing and maintaining good relationships with clients.
• Providing on-the-job training and supervision of junior team members.
• Identify opportunities and prospects for new work.
• Lead the preparation of client proposals / pitches.
• Ensure Quality and Risk standards and procedures are maintained across the team.

About The Team

The Risk Consulting team primarily delivers outsourced and co‑sourced internal audit and internal controls services, while also supporting a broad range of risk and governance advisory engagements. These include internal controls reviews, SOX and UK Corporate Governance Code (Provision 29) readiness, enterprise risk management frameworks, combined assurance and external quality assessments.

Primarily, the team provide outsourced and co-sourced internal audit services to banking / financial service clients, however, we also provide (or support other teams with the delivery of) a range of risk-based engagements including corporate governance reviews and external quality assessments.

About The Role

As an Internal Auditor within the Banking Risk Consulting Team, you will be responsible for planning, fieldwork, delivery and finalisation of internal audit engagements, leading a team of Assistant Manager and Senior Consultants and presenting at Audit Committees, to a range of banking and building society clients.

What We Are Looking For

• Holds either ACA, CA, ACCA, IIA or CII (or equivalent) qualification.
• Experience of planning, delivering and managing internal audit fieldwork.
• Experience of managing a portfolio of Banking and Financial Services Internal Audit clients.
• Experience of delivering and leading reviews such as –
