Job summary

Size Group is seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, based on site in West Alvington, England. You will support the commercial management of high-end residential projects, ensuring financial control and timely reporting.

The ideal candidate has 3–6 years in QS, a strong understanding of JCT contracts, and excellent numeracy and communication skills. Driving licence and car access are preferred for site travel.

Qualifications

• Around 3–6 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally with a main contractor.
• Experience on residential or high-quality construction projects.
• Good understanding of JCT contract forms and commercial procedures.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to build relationships.
• Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Driving licence and access to a car is highly preferable due to site location.

Responsibilities

• Support commercial management of high-end residential projects to ensure robust financial control.
• Assist with cost planning, procurement, valuations, change management, and financial reporting.

The Role

As an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor, you'll play a key role in the commercial management of high-end residential projects, helping to ensure robust financial control and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you'll support the delivery of commercial objectives across a range of projects, assisting with cost planning, procurement, valuations, change management, and financial reporting.

Working closely with clients, subcontractors, and project teams, you'll help maintain budgets, manage project risk, and contribute to the successful administration of JCT contracts.

Additionally, you will:

• Assist with cost forecasting, reporting, and financial analysis
• Support subcontractor procurement, account management, and payment processes
• Prepare monthly valuations and contribute to maintaining risk and opportunity registers
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
• Assist in the management and evaluation of variations and change events
• Support the Commercial Manager in achieving project commercial targets

About You

To be considered as an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor, you will have:

• Around 3-6 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally with a main contractor
• Experience working on residential or high-quality construction projects
• A good understanding of JCT contract forms and commercial procedures
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
• A proactive and organised approach, with a willingness to continue developing professionally
• A degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Due to the location of the site, a driving licence and access to a car is highly preferable
