Intermediate Mechanical Engineer – London. £40,000 – £50,000 + Benefits. Hybrid | London (Holborn area).

We are representing a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy for the built environment. They are seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join their expanding Building Services Engineering team in London. This role offers the opportunity to take on technical project responsibility, gain exposure to a wide variety of sectors, and develop within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Current Projects

The team is currently involved in several major schemes, including a large-scale data centre overseas and a £100 million commercial project in England, alongside projects across the automotive, manufacturing, and residential sectors. The Role

As Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will support the delivery of small to medium-scale mechanical projects under the guidance of the Associate and Principal Engineers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Completing surveys and site inspections and undertaking design calculations
  • Preparing drawings, technical specifications, and reports
  • Collaborating closely with project teams and liaising with clients and design partners
  • Supporting project management, resource allocation, and technical coordination
  • Identifying and resolving design and delivery issues early in the process
  • Managing your own workload effectively and contributing to overall team performance

You will gain experience across a wide range of mechanical systems, including HVAC, heating, cooling, BMS, hot and cold water, domestic services, and above-ground drainage.

About You

The ideal candidate will hold a building services or mechanical engineering degree (or equivalent) and have:

  • Around 3-4 years’ experience in a UK-based building services consultancy
  • Strong technical design skills with hands-on project delivery experience
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP, NBS, and EDSL Tas and/or IES VE
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
  • Experience across sectors such as commercial, industrial, residential, and education
  • Working toward Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with CIBSE or IMechE
