Job summary

Pick Everard in Leicester is seeking an Intermediate Geo-Environmental Engineer to join the central Environmental team. You will support contaminated land and geotechnical projects across sectors, gaining hands-on experience and mentored progression toward chartership and professional qualifications.

You’ll collaborate with experienced specialists, supervise site investigation contractors where applicable, and develop technical skills in environmental reporting and site investigations across UK

Qualifications

  • A relevant degree in Engineering, Geology, Geography or a related scientific discipline.
  • Experience in a geo-environmental or geotechnical role with knowledge of site investigation techniques.
  • Willingness to learn and develop knowledge across environmental specialisms.
  • Experience supervising site investigation contractors in line with CDM 2015.
  • Experience managing small site investigation projects and supporting larger projects.

Responsibilities

  • Attend site to undertake ground investigations, site walkovers and environmental monitoring.
  • Assist with the delivery of Phase 1 and Phase 2 Ground Investigation Reports.
  • Support delivery of geo-environmental and geotechnical projects within the Environmental team.
  • Liaise with project managers, clients and colleagues to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop technical knowledge of contaminated land, site investigation and geotechnical reporting through hands-on project experience.

From day one, you\'ll receive tailored mentoring and support to help you progress within either the Geo-Environmental or Geotechnical discipline, with structured development towards chartership and other professional qualifications. As a multi-disciplinary practice, you\'ll collaborate with talented colleagues across a wide range of disciplines, gaining exposure to varied and high-profile projects that will continue to develop your technical skills and experience. Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend site to undertake ground investigations, site walkovers and environmental monitoring.

Our ideal Intermediate Geo-Environmental Engineer should have:
  • A relevant degree in Engineering, Geology, Geography or a related scientific discipline.
  • Experience in a geo-environmental or geotechnical role, with a good understanding of standard site investigation techniques.
  • A willingness to learn and develop your knowledge across a range of environmental specialisms.
  • Experience of, or the ability to, supervise site investigation contractors in accordance with CDM 2015.
  • Experience managing small site investigation projects and supporting the delivery of larger projects.
  • Experience of, or an understanding of, preparing Phase 1 Geo-Environmental Desk Studies, factual reports and contributing to interpretative Phase 2 Site Investigation Reports.
  • An interest in supporting the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments.
  • Awareness of project financial processes, including fee recovery.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to communicate effectively in writing, verbally and through technical drawings.
  • A proactive, self-motivated and collaborative approach to work.
  • Awareness and application of relevant British Standards, including BS 5930, BS EN 1997-1 & 2 and BS 10175.
  • Knowledge of AGS data format, OpenGround, QGIS, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK driving licence would be beneficial as projects are across the UK
  • IOSH Safe Supervision of Geotechnical Sites or SSSTS qualification.
  • A current CSCS Card beneficial.
  • CAT and Genny training beneficial.
