Job summary

Major Rail Client in Milton Keynes is seeking an Interim Sourcing Manager to lead strategic procurement across Corporate Services on a 6-month contract. The role is hybrid, with 60% in-office work and umbrella IR35.

You will own end-to-end sourcing, develop category strategies, mentor a team of sourcing professionals and ensure governance, assurance and procurement policy compliance in a highly regulated environment.

Rate: £600 per day (Umbrella, InsideIR35)

We're looking for an experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager to join a major UK infrastructure organisation on a 6-month contract, supporting complex, high-value procurement programmes in a highly regulated environment.

This is a strategic, governance-led role for someone who can take ownership, lead a team and hit the ground running in a fast-moving environment.

The Role

You'll lead sourcing and tender activity across significant procurement programmes in Corporate Services, ensuring commercial strategies, governance, assurance and documentation are robust and compliant.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading end-to-end sourcing and tender activity for complex, high-value procurements
• Developing and delivering sourcing and category strategies
• Managing and mentoring a team of sourcing professionals
• Overseeing tender events, timelines and procurement processes
• Providing assurance across procurement documentation and governance
• Advising on procurement policy, procedure and regulatory requirements
• Working closely with senior stakeholders, assurance, governance and supplier management teams
• Challenging demand and identifying opportunities to maximise value
• Supporting reporting and providing clear updates to senior management
• Responding effectively to changing priorities in a highly reactive environment

Requirements:

• Strong public sector procurement experience
• Proven people/team management experience
• Experience working within complex governance, assurance and compliance frameworks
• Strong understanding of regulated procurement
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly
• Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills
• Strategic sourcing/category management experience
• PA23 training or expereince required

This is not a supplier-facing sourcing role; the emphasis is on strategic procurement, category oversight, governance, assurance and leading the team.
