Job summary

Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced Team Manager - Peripatetic to provide leadership across the West and North Suffolk locality. This hybrid locum role supports teams with high caseloads and guides implementation of a new service structure, ensuring quality assessments and statutory compliance.

The role requires a Social Work England registration, a recognised social work qualification, and substantial Children's Social Care leadership experience. Travel across Suffolk is expected.

Qualifications

• Social Work England registration.
• A recognised Social Work qualification.
• Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Social Care.
• Experience in a Team Manager, Practice Manager or equivalent leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of statutory Children's services, safeguarding legislation and best practices.
• Experience supervising, quality assurance, and oversight of assessments and casework.
• Ability to travel across Suffolk and work from different office locations.

Responsibilities

• Provide additional leadership and management capacity across the West and North teams.
• Support teams with high caseloads, staffing pressures, or sickness absence.
• Stabilise workloads and maintain service delivery during periods of increased demand.
• Support teams through the implementation of the new organisational structure and changes.
• Oversee and sign off assessments, ensuring quality standards and statutory requirements.
• Provide supervision and professional support to social work staff.
• Adapt management oversight across teams as needed.
• Collaborate with Team Managers and senior leaders to ensure consistency of practice and performance.
