Overview

Robertson Bell are pleased to be partnering with a well-established charitable organisation as they recruit for an Interim Head of Finance for a six-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance leader to oversee a broad range of financial activities within a respected and forward-thinking charity.

In this varied and hands-on role, you will take ownership of the finance function, leading on statutory reporting, managing a small team, and providing financial insight to senior leadership and trustees. This role is offered on a 3- or 4-day part time basis with a weekly presence on site required.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing statutory accounts and managing the year-end process for the charity and its subsidiaries.
  • Overseeing the Finance Assistant and ensuring smooth delivery across purchase ledger, sales invoicing, payroll and VAT.
  • Providing financial due diligence and oversight for grant-making and investment activities.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders, including auditors and investment managers.
  • Supporting and servicing key governance committees, including Finance and Audit.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant experience in charity finance.
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge, including charity SORP and restricted funds.
  • Possess excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Have confident communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and trustees.
  • Be comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment.
