Interim Operations Manager - Education Sector

Salary: £41,771 - £47,180
Location: South Yorkshire
Contract Type: Full-time, temporary role covering maternity
Start Date: As soon as possible

Are you an experienced and dynamic operations professional looking to make a meaningful impact in an educational setting? We are recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded secondary academy for a strategic and hands-on Operations Manager to lead and manage all aspects of operational support across the school.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic leadership of site operations including premises, health & safety, ICT, catering, HR, and administration; budget management and procurement oversight.
  • Line management of operational staff across multiple departments.
  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and trust-wide policies.
  • Project management of capital works and maintenance.
  • Oversight of the Single Central Record and operational systems.
  • Liaison with external contractors, community partners, and central trust teams.
Ideal Candidate
  • Holds a relevant degree and professional management qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in operational leadership within a school or business environment.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and safeguarding practices.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
  • Able to lead and motivate teams, manage multiple projects, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Additional Requirements: Enhanced DBS clearance required. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and people. Willingness to undertake relevant training.
