Job summary

Benjamin Edwards is hiring an Interim Management Accountant in Scunthorpe for a 3-month fixed term contract. The role is hybrid with a salary of £40,000 per year. You will produce monthly management accounts, maintain journals, and support budgeting and forecasting for multiple entities.

You will work closely with the Commercial Accountant, analysing performance and providing insights to aid decision-making. ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• ACCA/CIMA/ACA part qualified or qualified by experience with sound accounting knowledge.
• Experience producing monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Produce full monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet and cash movements.
• Post month-end journals: accruals, prepayments, payroll, stock and WIP.
• Prepare and analyze monthly performance data and provide management commentary.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and year-end processes.
• Reconcile bank and intra-group transactions and assist audit requirements.

Interim Management Accountant

The role of the Interim Management Accountant

Working closely with the Commercial Accountant, you will be responsible for producing accurate and timely financial information across several entities. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing full monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, cash movements and supporting information
• Producing an initial flash set of results shortly after month-end
• Preparing and posting month-end journals including accruals, prepayments, payroll, stock, WIP, bad debt provisions and late invoice creditors
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations
• Analysing monthly performance and providing insight to support management accounts commentary
• Producing monthly project and contract reporting, covering monthly, year-to-date and lifetime performance
• Working closely with operational teams to ensure income and costs are accurately allocated across contracts
• Supporting monthly reforecasts and the annual budgeting process
• Undertaking financial and performance analysis as required
• Completing bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
• Reconciling intra-group transactions
• Assisting with year-end reporting packs and external audit requirements
• Supporting debtor management alongside the Accounts Receivable team
• Identifying opportunities to improve, streamline and automate finance processes
• Getting involved in the testing and implementation of new finance systems and processes

The ideal candidate for the Interim Management Accountant

• ACCA/CIMA/ACA part qualified or qualified by experience, with a good understanding of key accounting principles fundamental to the duties and responsibilities of the role
• Have practical experience producing monthly management accounts
• Be confident preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
• Have strong analytical skills and be comfortable getting underneath the numbers
• Be able to communicate financial information effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Be organised and able to manage competing priorities and tight month-end deadlines
• Have good finance systems and IT skills
• Enjoy improving processes rather than simply accepting the way things have always been done
