Grant Thornton UK is seeking an experienced Interim Internal Auditor within the Financial Services - Business Risk Services (FS BRS) team. The role focuses on capital markets and non-financial risk, offering short- to medium-term projects that sharpen expertise and provide variety beyond a single path.

You'll work with financial institutions on internal audit, risk management and regulatory change, collaborating with senior stakeholders.

Grant Thornton's Financial Services Business Risk Services (FS BRS) team delivers market-leading risk, control and governance services to clients across insurance, banking and investment management. We work alongside financial institutions to help them achieve their strategic goals - whether that means navigating new legislation, responding to regulatory change, or adapting their technology and operating models to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving landscape. Our work spans internal audit (outsource and co-source), finance and risk management, compliance and technology - giving our people broad exposure to some of the most complex and high-profile challenges in financial services today.

Skills We Are Looking For

• Proven experience delivering end-to-end internal audit engagements within a financial services institution or professional services firm.
• Solid grounding in non-financial risk disciplines, including operational risk and compliance, with the capacity to build deep familiarity with an organisation's processes, control environment and regulatory obligations across the areas being reviewed.
• Prior exposure to capital markets auditing.
• Strong technical internal audit skills, including the ability to scope and structure a testing approach, produce high-quality workpaper documentation and ensure that findings are well-evidenced, clearly articulated and appropriately escalated throughout the engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to lead audit teams effectively, including supporting the development of junior colleagues, driving continuous improvement in how the team operates and maintaining strong working relationships across both the audit function and the wider business.
• Proven ability to communicate clearly and confidently with senior management, presenting audit progress, key risks and control issues in a structured way and translating complex findings into concise, impactful reporting for a range of audiences.
• Demonstrable experience applying data analytics within an audit context to sharpen coverage, surface insights and drive efficiencies, alongside the personal resilience and adaptability to perform consistently under pressure and to demanding timelines.
• Please note this is open to candidates at Manager level and above.
