Job summary

Oyster Partnership is recruiting an experienced Private Sector Housing Enforcement Officer on an interim basis for a Surrey-based local authority. You will manage your own workload, investigate complaints, undertake inspections and provide professional housing enforcement advice to residents, landlords and stakeholders.

The role offers hybrid working, a flexible 24-hour week, and a diverse caseload with immediate start opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Investigate private sector housing complaints and service requests.
• Carry out HMO licensing inspections and process licence applications.
• Undertake caravan site inspections and regulatory visits.
• Assess housing conditions and identify breaches of legislation.
• Serve statutory notices and progress enforcement action where required.
• Prepare case files and support legal proceedings.
• Provide technical advice on private sector housing matters.
• Liaise with landlords, tenants, agents, councillors and partner agencies.
• Maintain accurate case records and produce detailed reports.
• Represent the council at stakeholder meetings and court proceedings where necessary.
