Interim Head of Finance Operations

Location: West Midlands (Hybrid - 3 days in office)

Duration: 6 Months

A prestigious and well-established professional services organisation in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Interim Head of Finance Operations to lead its transactional finance function during a critical period of transformation and operational optimisation.

This is a high-profile interim assignment offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a large, complex finance environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 30 finance professionals, covering Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, and Finance Administration.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the transactional finance function
• Oversee the delivery of high-volume AP and AR processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance
• Lead the cash and banking operations, including cash flow forecasting, reconciliations, and treasury support
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance operational performance
• Ensure robust financial controls and governance across all transactional activities
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders across finance, IT, and operations to align finance operations with broader business objectives
• Support the development and mentoring of team leaders and staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
• Deliver timely and insightful reporting to senior leadership, highlighting risks, opportunities, and performance metrics

Qualifications

• Have a recognisable accounting qualification or relevant educational background
• Have a strong track record of managing transactional finance teams within a shared services environment, including AP, AR, and cash/banking functions
• Have excellent people management skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop large teams
• Be commercially aware with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
• Availability to start immediately or within short notice
• Be Midlands based. Unfortunately applicants outside of the Midlands will not be considered
