Job description

KCR Solutions are delighted to be working with this highly successful company on the outskirts of Durham in their recruitment of a qualified Accountant to work on an interim period as their Head of Finance. Your duties will be as follows :

  • Managing and developing the finance team ensuring stronger processes and preparing for the implementation of a new finance management system
  • Leading mentoring and supporting the finance team on site to improve performance and accountability
  • Assessing team structure skills and workload to ensure effective allocation of responsibilities
  • Introducing regular review processes individual development plans and clear procedural guidance
  • Working with the finance consultant to align team development with wider business objectives
  • Responsible for process improvement and documentation
  • Reviewing and documenting all key finance procedures including billing purchase ledger WIP payroll data and month-end routines
  • Establishing clear timetables ownership and controls for each process
  • Strengthening internal controls and ensuring compliance with accounts rules and statutory obligations
  • Leading the finance input into the configuration and preparation of the new finance management system
  • Collaborating with the finance consultant on design data integrity process alignment and testing
  • Developing and implementing finance team training to ensure smooth adoption of system
  • Overseeing the timely production of accurate monthly management accounts with supporting analysis
  • Managing cash flow and working capital ensuring robust financial discipline
  • Supporting the finance consultant with analysis and presentation of financial results to the management team
  • Providing financial insight to the management team to support informed decision-making
  • Identifying efficiency and automation opportunities across finance and related business processes

You will be a qualified Accountant and will have worked in a similar role previously. You will have a strong systems background and will ideally have experience of system implementation

This is a hands‑on role focused on delivering operational improvements building team capability documenting procedures and ensuring the finance function is well positioned for long‑term success.
